Training Schedule / Cycle School
New to cycling? Would you like to become more self-sufficient when you ride? Goldilocks offers a plethora of amazing free classes at a bike shop near you! Come make new friends, fix your bike fit problems, learn to change a flat, and how to fuel your body for a long ride. See the training and cycle school page for more information and a calendar of events in your area.
Goldilocks spoils participants by providing support unmatched by any other event.
Goldilocks takes care of her riders by providing fully stocked rest stops, Mama Bears/Papa Bears on bike, a dispatch phone number with operators to assist if help is needed along the course, SAG vehicles roving the entire course if transportation is needed, a delicious catered lunch, and many, many Mama and Papa Bear volunteers helping throughout the course.
Mama Bear & Papa Bear Support Crew Rider
Mama Bear & Papa Bear Support Crew Riders are essential for continuing to offer a fully supported ride. To qualify as a Support Crew Rider, you must be 18 year or older by the date of the event and you must be able to:
1. Change a Flat Quickly (under 5 minutes)
2. Resolve Basic Mechanical Issues Quickly
At packet pick up, an event shirt will be given to each Support Crew Rider so they are easily recognizable on the course. A tube and CO2 tank will be provided at pick up as well. As a Support Crew Rider, you may ride along and enjoy the event with your companion, we only ask that you stop help anyone in need that you may come across. If the problem is bigger than you can handle, we ask that you contact dispatch and wait with the participant until help arrives.
If you ride with a Papa Bear who wants to join our event, don’t wait to get him registered as we only allow 10% of registrants for Papa Bear Support Riders.
Expect to see a rest stop with portable restrooms every 10-20 miles along the course. All cycling rest stops are stocked with fresh fruit, Swedish fish, pretzels, Wheat Thins, hard candy, Fig Newtons, Oreos, licorice, pickles, PB&J, water and Gatorade. Love and encouragement also provided.
Goldilocks designs her own custom tee shirt every year. Expect this event tee to be your favorite! She knows just what women want and always comes through providing a soft, extra-long, women specific shirt. It’s the one you’ll want to wear every day!
If the shirt you order doesn’t fit the way you expect, you can exchange it at the event. Goldilocks orders lots of extra shirts and most the time can exchange it for one that is ‘just right’. Occasionally we run out of certain sizes, but we’ll do what we can to make it right.
Goldilocks thinks highlight photos should be FREE! We hire the best photographers to be at the finish line and multiple locations along the course. Be sure to smile big and strike a pose for the cameras. Make sure your event number is visible so we know who is in each photo.
Photos will be made available a week or so after the ride.
Goldilocks awards her finishers with a darling, sterling silver, hand-crafted finisher’s necklace as they cross the finish line. Dress up your necklace at the Goldilocks event shop with charms that personalize your finisher’s necklaces with your ride distance, birthstone or a number of inspirational phrases.
If you have completed a previous Goldilocks, feel free to exchange your finisher necklace for another variant in the store near the finish line.
Age/Equipment Limitations & Requirements
Goldilocks is open to all females who can finish the course in the allotted amount of time, and under their own power, before the course sections close. Not recommended for children under 8.
Helmets are mandatory. Please carry spare tubes, water bottles, a patch kit, and pump with you during the ride.
Road bikes, mountain bikes, beach cruisers, tandem bikes (buy two ride entries), electric assist bikes, TT bikes, etc. are all welcome! No bike trailers.
Everyone likes little surprises. Goldilocks always does her best to fit in a few little extras in her goodie bags at packet pick up. Participants love the high quality water bottle, temporary tattoos and other sponsor goodies.
As you know, Goldilocks is known for a delicious spread. Depending on your event, breakfast or lunch will be served on the course or at the finish line.
Dress warm in the morning knowing you can label and bag your extra items and leave them at the start line or any of our rest stops or aid stations and we’ll transport them to the finish line for you.
Part of our fully supported event means if you have a problem on the course, or can’t continue, we’ll provide support to help you solve it or bring you and your bike (if applicable) back to the finish line.
We’ll have Papa Bears on the course to assist with minor problems. We’ll have marked roving vehicles if transport is necessary. Bike Mechanics will also be stationed at rest stops.
Don’t forget to save time to walk through the vendor booths after your ride. The best hours to catch the expo in full-swing are from 10am to 3pm.
Some vendors may come earlier or stick around later. If you want to peruse the vendor booths, make arrangements to be there during those hours.
Finish Line Festivities/Spectators
No one wants to finish a race with no fanfare. Goldilocks knows how to throw a party and the event wouldn’t be the same without family and friends to cheer on participants as you cross the finish line.
Be sure to invite your family members to the finish line. There will be something for everyone!
The start line and all the rest stops have plenty of glamorous, clean, pink, portable restrooms.
Change Your Distance
No matter what you registered for, at packet pickup, cyclists may let the volunteer know which mileage they want to ride.
Goldilocks knows her participants like to ride for a cause! Hair donations are collected at each event. Donations are used to make real-hair wigs for women and children who otherwise could not afford them.
